Leaving on a Jet Plane!

Posted: June 10th, 2013 by Ashley - 3 Comments

And we are off! Tomorrow morning we start our journey to the States. For those of you who do not know what this looks like, it is one 9.5 hour flight, then a 8.5 hour layover in Dubai, followed by 14.5 hours to Seattle. Prayers are appreciated!

In the meantime, here is something one of our students wrote while studying the book of Ezra. I thought it was too good not to share. Revival is a word that is thrown around quite often in these parts. The student is Mikaela Grönlund from Sweden.

Who we are at a glance

Our heart

It is our heart to see the continent of Africa reached with the Gospel. We believe that the key to doing this is by empowering influencers with the tools to powerfully study and teach the Bible and sending them out. We see South Africa as the perfect place to do this because it is ideally situated to send out workers into the rest of Africa.

Our work

We work with the School of Biblical Studies (SBS), which is a nine month course that teaches students to study the Bible inductively. This program develops within students and powerful love for the Word and the tools and practice to pull solid and accurate understanding from it. Our students range from young people fresh into the mission field to experienced pastors looking to better understand the Bible.

Our base

We are a part of YWAM Muizenberg, which is located just outside of Cape Town, South Africa. What initially drew YWAM to this community was it's stance as a 'grey area' under apartheid. In the twenty plus years of it's operation, this base has continued to be a pillar of cultural acceptance and cooperation. The heart of this base lies in it's work in training, community outreach, and mercy ministries.

Our organization

Youth With A Mission (YWAM) is an international, interdenominational missions organization that has been around for more than 50 years. YWAM has a decentralized structure that encourages new vision and the exploration of new ways to change lives through training, evangelism, and mercy ministries. We are currently operating in more than 1000 locations in over 180 countries, with a staff of over 18,000.
